This page is mainly a comment on this article, so you have to read that one first...

In a short period of time growing pot has become a major economic factor in California, be it legal or illegal, and the pros & cons listed there's one pro obvious: It's good for California's public treasury!

It's very possible that that argument will be more convincing for the State of California, being desperately in need for some cash, to endorse legalization of growing hemp, than all the arguments brought up against criminalization before. It seems prosecution has not priority nomore, allthough the prisons still are packed with marihuana related convicts.

Here comes the tricky part. Like in Holland, where cannabis never was legalized like many seem to believe, mobsters will jump in the legal/illegal twilightzine, seeking allways bussiness with the less risico. Like the 'coffeeshops' in Holland. Once their interests settled, they will protect them against concurring 'bussinessmen' or anybody endagering their bussiness, and that's where the violence comes in.

The traditional hemp-opponents, who still have huge influence (see the stories about 'the hemp-conspiracy') will proclaim that it prooves the dangers of the demonic weed: Did not we say so, legalizing it will bring crimes and havoc, you'd better listen to us right away.
That's what's happening in Holland now, the government, for a good part having their roots in the Dutch 'Biblebelt' wants to dismantle the 'gedoog'system ('gedogen' is not 100% 'to tolerate', it's more looking the other way, assigning other priorities - like in Ca. now), and turn history back 50 years, istead of coming up with the real solution: legalize it.

(ps. one thing attracted my attention right-away in the article: the $102,- for 8 ounces of grass, in Holland that would be ten times more expensive....)

Here some vids, Californians with their solution of all the problems....
